Acostic Poems 'Spring'

Spring is here

Petals falling on the ground

Really little ducklings following their mother

It’s amazing, flowers are growing

Nest built be birds

Grass growing really quickly

By Parth

Sewing rain so it can fall upon my flowers

Precious lilies open in spring

Refreshing watermelon to eat

Indigo violets spread across the meadow

Nothing prettier than flowers blooming in spring

Growing delicately, daffodils and daisies

By Daisy

Spring is coming, winter is going

Pretty flowers are growing

Red rose buds bursting into flower

I like spring because flowers grow

Nice flowers make me smile

Green is my flower colour

By Brodie

 Seeds grow very quickly

Friends play games together

I jump, skip and hop outside In spring

Get outside In spring while it lasts

By Clara

Sun shining brightly

Powerful spring spreading all around

Rose buds, looking lovely

I planted some daffodils

Nothing is going to stop spring

Golden flowers smelling sweet

By Thomas

So many daisies bust out of the ground after winter

Pretty birds come out to fly

Rain helps the flowers grow

In the river the ducklings are swimming with their mother

No more leaves falling from the trees because it is spring

Growing blossoms on the tree

By Cindy

Spring has arrived so go out and play

Playing outside in the warm sun

Running around the playground

Imaginative children jumping for joy

Noisy birds chirping in the trees

Growing tulips with delicate petals

By Bailey

So many dandelions busting into bloom

Pretty flowers come and stay

Rose buds growing

I awake in spring and see lots of lovely fresh flowers

New daisies come out on the lawn and I make daisy chains

Green grass growing in spring

By Ruby

Sun shining brightly in the blue sky

Precious daisies cover the lawns

Rabbits come out to find food

In spring lots of baby animals are born

Now go outside and play

Go and play in the garden

By Ody

So many daffodils blooming in the sunshine

Pretty delicate little blossoms hanging on the trees

Really small animals finding food

Incredible little squirrels hiding in the trees

Nice little daffodils sitting in the sunshine

Great smells come from the blossoms

By Baxter

So many pretty daffodils in the gardens

Pretty fantails flying around in the blue sky

I wake up in the morning, spring is here

Now the bees are here looking for flowers

Go on kids, it’s time for games

By Nevaeh

Spring is twirling and blossom is blooming

Pretty flowers come out In the garden

Rose buds bust open

Insects and bugs crawl carefully out of their homes

Native plants grow

Growing daffodils bloom in spring

Crazy Poems

Our poems were inspired by a poem by Kenn Nesbitt called 'Mashed Potatoes on the Ceiling.

Mashed Potatoes On the Ceiling
Mashed potatoes on the ceiling.
Green beans on the floor.
Stewed tomatoes in the corner.
Squash upon the door.

Pickled peppers in my pocket.
Spinach up my sleeves.
Mushrooms in my underpants with
leeks and lettuce leaves.

Okra, onions, artichokes,
asparagus and beets;
buried neatly underneath the
cushions of our seats.

All the rest I've hidden in my socks
and down my shirt.
I'm done with all my vegetables.
I'm ready for dessert!
--Kenn Nesbitt

When I am asleep I hear a noise.

Is it an asteroid?

Is it a comet?

I go and see.

FRUIT and VEGES!

I see fruit on my couch.

I see corn in the corner blowing raspberries at me.

Oranges trying on hats that don’t fit and cheeky bananas eating leaves

I see mandarins playing the flute and feijoas ticking and toking like a clock.

Oh no! They’re going to explode

BANG!  Feijoa juice flying everywhere.

By Daisy

Fruit and Vegetable Poem

Furry mandarins creeping down the wall

Slobbery peas sliding down the fridge with rotten squashy pineapples on top

Hiding squashed mushrooms in my pants

Splattered tomatoes on the wall

Slimy cherries up my sleeve

By Bailey

Fruit and Vegetable Poem

I sat on a banana!

Splat, it went on my Mum.

I throw an orange and it went ka-boom!  Everywhere!

I ate a carrot; it came out my sleeve,

I put them in a bunch of rapped up leaves.

By Thomas

Green cabbages rolling around the room

Juicy oranges hang on a tree

Red cherries, just like lip gloss

Purple grapes racing down the stairs

By India-Rose

Fruit and Vegetable Poem

Squishy bananas on the ceiling

Rotten mushrooms sliding down the door

Yesterday’s limp cabbage is on the floor

Furry potatoes under my shirt

Juicy tomatoes sitting on my shoe

Hard brussels sprouts rolling across the floor.

By Adel

Gooey tomatoes rolling out of the bowl

Tickly broccoli creeping up my sleeves

Fruit and Vegie Poem

Massive guava on the ceiling

Furry mandarins squeaking down the door

Cheeky corn hiding in the fruit bowl

Weird watermelon squealing on the windowsill and pirate bananas sailing in my toy ship

Tangled brussel sprouts tucking up in my mattress

Kiwifruit playing on my recorder

Creepy apples just run away.

BANG!

Everything exploded!

I like how everything is back to normal.

By Clara

Fruit and Vegetable Poem

Spicy red burning hot chillies

Grapes are like slime balls

Broccoli like small trees

Pumpkins like oval balls

Cauliflowers like trees with snow caps on top.

By Ody

Spicy red chillies burn my mouth

Sweaty yellow cheese stinky in my pockets

Mushrooms are little white houses for ants

Bananas are boats with toy sails

By Ody

I’m a juicy red apple and my name is Jacob

And I’m hiding up someone’s sleeve

I try to escape and get back to the fruit bowl.

By Jacob

They turn into slime

Space Odyssey

Science Alive came to our school.  We visited the Star Lab.  We were able to see lots of stars and planets.  Space Odyssey was very exciting as we were able to participate in hands on activities.
How the Earth spins and rotates around the sun.  This activity also showed us night and day.

What would you pack in your space suitcase?
It was lots of fun putting the planets in order.  We were able to see how much bigger some of the planets are compared to Earth.
We are making our own pictures of galaxies.
Looking at the phases of the moon.
Making craters on the moon.

The Solar System

We wrote some interesting facts about the solar system.
